Self-Help Divorce Clinic

At our self-help divorce clinics, we help clients fill out the paperwork to file for a divorce. You file the divorce in court on your own, but we are there to help you through the process.

In most cases, we only take simple, uncontested divorces for the clinic. If you have child custody or child support issues, please go to Family Court first, and contact us again when you get court orders from the Family Court on these issues. For custody cases, if you can't afford a lawyer, the Family Court judge must appoint one for you at your first hearing.

To find out if you qualify for our clinic, please call our Legal HelpLine at:

1 (877) 777-6152

When listening to the message prompts, select the option to Start A Divorce and you will be transferred to an Intake Specialist who will assist you with the divorce screening.

Self-Help Consumer Law Clinics including Bankruptcy

Our consumer law clinics can help with problems such as bankruptcy, frozen bank accounts, debt problems, student loans, ID theft, car problems, utility shutoffs and other consumer problems. At the clinic, you get a chance to talk to a lawyer or paralegal about your legal problem.

When and Where Are The Clinics Held?

Our Syracuse office holds consumer law clinics for low-income people who live in Onondaga and surrounding counties. Our Binghamton office also holds consumer clinics, for people who live in Broome and surrounding counties. Arrangements can be made to attend these clinics either in person or over the telephone.

Veterans Clinic

In partnership with the new Veterans Drop-In Center in downtown Utica, we have been holding free clinics for veterans on a regular basis. At the clinic, veterans have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a volunteer attorney about any civil legal problem, free of charge. We welcome veterans from anywhere in our service area, and thank them for their service to our nation.
