Elder Law Services

Through funding from local Offices for Aging (OFA), we provide free legal advice and representation to seniors ages 60 and over on civil  (non-criminal) legal matters. Our income or resource limits, do not apply when cases are verified to us by an Office of the Aging (OFA).

We handle multiple civil legal problems for seniors, including consumer problems, family matters, access to healthcare, public benefits issues, housing problems, future planning (for example wills, living wills, health care proxies, powers of attorney, and Medicaid planning), elder abuse and/or neglect, and additional legal issues.

 

Counties Served

Broome, Delaware, Herkimer, Jefferson, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga and Otsego are served through OFA funding.

Seniors in Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Lewis and Oswego counties may also qualify for our services but must have low-income and limited resources.

For Delaware, Herkimer, Jefferson, Madison, Oneida and Otsego Counties: 

Contact your local Office for Aging (OFA) by visiting the following website https://aging.ny.gov/ to find your local office. Tell a representative from the OFA that you need legal assistance.

 

If your local OFA is unable to assist you, please call LASMNY, apply online, or visit one of our offices. You may qualify for our services.
